The Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Insider Threat-focused Cyber Security Specialist to join this team. In this role, you will play a critical role in assessing and enhancing this government organization's security posture. Your work will help evaluate, implement, and maintain security measures to protect your colleagues, family, and Aotearoa.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of internal systems, processes, and employee activities to identify potential insider threats.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic, log data, and other relevant sources to detect anomalies and suspicious activities that may indicate insider threats.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies, policies, and procedures to prevent, detect, and respond to insider threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, and legal departments, to develop insider threat prevention programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct investigations into suspected insider threats, gather evidence, and provide recommendations for remediation.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and tools in insider threat detection and prevention to continually enhance our capabilities.
  • Deliver training and awareness programs to educate employees about insider threats and promote a security-conscious culture.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to internal stakeholders on insider threat-related matters.
Requirements:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are a plus.
  • Proven experience in the field of cybersecurity, with a focus on insider threat detection and prevention.
  • In-depth knowledge of insider threat indicators, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with network security, log analysis, and security monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations, such as the NZISM and PSR, and their impact on insider threat programs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and identify potential risks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Relevant experience in conducting investigations and handling sensitive information.
