The role
Upper Echelon is seeking a senior data and analytics leader for an exciting opportunity as an Data and Analytics lead for a team of 20+ in a large government agency. This is delivery and engagement management/design leadership rather than line management.
Wellington based role where you will use your strategic and design skills, plus leading a nationwide team which you will leverage the experience of. You don’t have to live in Wellington, but you do need to be able to go to the client site for a few days every week.
In this role you will be building and maintaining relationships with sector partners and stakeholders, and facilitating discussions between technical and non technical audiences.
You will be the design leader, especially in the data tier of the platform. Your decision making skills will be used here to meet short term goals without compromising platform longevity.
You will also partner with the agency to help make the right decisions on implementation and to deliver the best outcomes. Using your strategic skills to develop and implement the data and analytics strategy for the organisation.
What we are looking for
This is a permanent role and we are expecting to pay the right candidate between $180,000 and $220,000 plus bonus.

What we are looking for
- A proven track record of leadership, building high performing teams. Ability to work with a remotely dispersed team.
- Proven relationship management experience in large organisations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple vendor relationships
- Background in data and analytics for complex enterprise organisations.
- Credible experience in design leadership and managing a large complex data warehouse project.
- Capable of directing data architects, data engineers and having the gravitas to do so.
