The Role 

A mix of technical direction and team management, envisaged as 70/30. Be responsible and accountable, with the support of the CTO, for developing and executing strategy and direction. Be a mentor, not a manager.

Ensuring the team are delivering on: 

• Developing advanced cyber security solutions and assisting in implementation and deployment. 
• Supporting customers to use the products & technologies to improve the security of their applications. Providing advice and guidance on vulnerability resolution.
• Monitor and analyse traffic logs identifying threats and vulnerabilities. 
• Upskilling and promoting the company, by attending conferences and IT security related forums. 
• Stay up to date with the latest IT security vulnerabilities, attacks and exploits. 

Ensure all team members understand their contribution to the business and empower them to do their jobs effectively, every day. 

• Build effective two way communication, ensuring all team members know they are heard. 
• Support the team in both company and employee objectives, lead by example.
• Recognise and celebrate employees and their achievements.

The Person

You'll likely be from a software or web development background and have progressed to the cyber security sphere, advanced penetration testing and web security. 7+ years relevant industry experience, Tertiary qualifications and experience in a leadership or management role is desirable.

Technical Competencies 

• Penetration testing skills particularly in the web application space. 
• Knowledge of OWASP top ten and common web vulnerabilities. 
• Experience and knowledge of networking. 
• Programming / Scripting experience (Python and Ruby preferred, but not required). 
• Experience with web scanner tools.
• Effective working relationships both internally and externally. Encouraging open communication. 
• Build trust relationships internally and externally. Put the customer first. 
• An in depth understanding of the IT security industry, current trends and their impact.
• Translate strategy into action.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes.

This is a full-time, permanent position, paying up to $180,000+ per annum and potentially more for a Development Lead  at the top of their game.
