The Role

As an IT Support and Projects Engineer, you will be responsible for managing IT helpdesk tickets, diagnosing and troubleshooting service desk incidents, and ensuring high-quality IT customer service to all customers. You will also participate in project initiatives and undertake technical training and testing of new products. This is a full-time role that may require occasional (very occasional) after-hours work. You’ll be compensated well for any extra hours.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned IT helpdesk tickets and prioritise them effectively
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot service desk incidents to ensure prompt resolution
  • Ensure all incidents and requests for work are logged into the Help Desk system
  • Set up and deploy laptops, desktops, printers, smartphones, etc.
  • Support end user operating systems/applications
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, operating system and file system faults
  • Participate in project initiatives and undertake technical training and testing of new products
  • Document IT procedures, configurations and solutions
  • Escalate incidents and problems for resolution by appropriate employees and vendors
  • Provide technical details to sales team if required

Qualifications, Skills & Experience


  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience either in a similar role working with a managed services provider or in a Microsoft Windows based environment
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft desktop applications – Current Microsoft Windows and Office versions including current MS certification
  • Experience supporting Mac devices including mobile devices (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Server applications – Current Windows Server and Microsoft Exchange version, Strong Active Directory skills, Windows Server management, group policies and file and print services
  • Understanding of O365 solutions and migration and support experience
  • Basic understanding of networking technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing/subnetting, Wi-Fi and firewall technologies
  • Experience working with Linux/Windows, Citrix environments and CISCO/Juniper/ProCurve & Ruckus networking hardware is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of Virtualised Server Environments including VMWare and Hyper-V
  • Experience supporting Veeam backup solutions
  • Experience with ConnectWise or similar ticketing system

The Person 

We are looking for a motivated, flexible and customer-focused individual with excellent technical diagnostics and resolution skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to pick up new concepts quickly and work independently as well as part of a team. You must have a current New Zealand driver's license and own transport.
