The role

Upper Echelon has a unique opportunity for an experienced Project or Program Manager to lead a Project Management Office that defines and maintains ICT project management standards within the New Zealand Health sector.

Lead and enable your team, ensuring projects are on track, completed successfully, on schedule and within budget. All while selling the “why” of the projects and keeping them accountable. Governance delivery is at the core of this role; upholding best practices and centralising the documentation of project status and strategy. Be the custodian of documentation, guidance, and metrics for project execution. A challenging role within a busy department.

The responsibilities
  • Encourage best practice methodology, and create policies, processes, and workflows to define and manage all projects.
  • Champion project management, driving regular communication and productivity amongst the team. This includes maintaining a shared project culture, enabling the Project Managers to deliver, with clarity, and defining project metrics and KPIs.
  • Curate work management tools, templates, and software to create a reliable repository of project data that results in better decision-making.
  • Perform regular periodic reviews and assurance checks to ensure projects are on time, and on budget.
  • Manage the budget assigned to the function and delegate responsibilities within to achieve the PMO’s objectives, and elevate project delivery to the wider ICT Department.
Paying up to $160,000 pa, this is a permanent, full-time role. Based in Wellington although there will, of course, be the flexibility to work from home.
