Every day, we create an estimated 2.5 quintillion (that’s a 1 with 18 zeros, just FYI) bytes of data, and this amount is accelerating at an exponential rate. More data has been collected in the past two years than in the entire human history. We need gatekeepers and maintainers for all these treasure chests of information. Enter the professional DBA.
Upper Echelon are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator on behalf of our client to join a small and supportive, Hosting and Cloud team. Working with 6 different clients, your role will be -
All while maximising customer satisfaction by providing ongoing support to ensure smooth and efficient operations and staying aware of customer trends and developments. Keep up to date with the latest product, services and industry knowledge.
When presented with a problem, especially one you have not encountered before, the ability to think through the possible causes and then eliminate or follow them logically to the end is absolutely crucial.
The person
You’ll have strong communication and customer service skills. Take ownership and work autonomously, with the support of your team. You’ll have strong analytical and keen problem-solving skills. Technically, you’ll be experienced in and have an understanding of:

Our client complies with government legislation in various jurisdictions which in certain circumstances may impose a requirement that certain workers be vaccinated against COVID-19 (or otherwise have a valid exemption). - Planning, installing and enhancing SQL Server instances and related software
- Designing and operating high availability solutions for SQL Server
- Performing scheduled processes including backup and recovery, archiving and storage, automation tasks and script development and scheduled and batch job management
- Support key delivery processes and service level management including service desk, incident, problem, change and release management and security management
- Produce accurate, concise internal and customer reports

- SQL Server Components (SSRS, SSIS and SSAS)
- sing Enterprise class Service Desk and Operational Management tools and processes to deliver IT support services
- Windows Operating Systems and Azure Platform
- Production support experience in a complex, 24X7 database environment managing SQL Server versions 2008 to 2019
- High availability technology (clustering / mirroring / replication / log shipping / automated failover, AlwaysOn)
- Database Disaster Recovery strategy, planning and execution
- Remote Database Management Practices
- Database Maintenance using Productivity Tools / Establishing Automation
- Active Directory and/or related security and access control tools for Databases
- In-depth experience with troubleshooting SQL Server performance problems
- ITIL Service Delivery and Service Management to foundation level
